The District 5 Schoolhouse was once one of 15 such schools in Underhill, and it is the only one remaining in public hands. It is listed on the Vermont Historic Sites and Structures Survey and is eligible to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. District 5 was established in 1811, the oldest school district in Underhill Center. The current building is the third schoolhouse on what is one of the earliest occupied sites in the village.  Come visit us at 32 Pleasant Valley Rd. in Underhill Center.  Click here for directions.

Action to Preserve & Restore

Fundraising begins in 2015 and will continue over an anticipated two year period until the Old Schoolhouse is restored. Total funding required for restoration is approximately $80,000. Although the structure is limited to 3 season use the space has many benefits to offer Underhill residents as an available community space that could be rented and used for hosting many types of functions and special events.  Learn More About The Old Schoolhouse
